About the festival

From May 26 to June 1, 2023, the capital of Chuvashia - the city of Cheboksary will host XVI Cheboksary International Film Festival.

For the first time the film festival declared itself in June 2008, when famous actors came to Cheboksary and filmmakers not only from near, but also far abroad. In 2009 the decision of the management Of the Chuvash Republic to make the Cheboksary International Film Festival traditional was supported Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

For nine years, the film forum has gained popularity among film critics, directors and actors, it was attended by tens of thousands of spectators. Eldar Ryazanov became participants of the film festival in different years, Irina Muravyova, Lidia Fedoseeva-Shukshina, Mikhail Efremov, Irina Skobtseva-Bondarchuk, Dmitry Astrakhan, Boris Grachevsky, Alexey German Jr., Yuri Grymov, Sergey Fetisov, Nikita Vysotsky, Alexey Nilov, Semyon Furman, Grigory Gladkov, Liza Boyarskaya, Dmitry Kharatyan, Inna Churikova, Gleb Panfilov, Alexander Pankratov-Cherny and many other actors and directors from Russia, Kazakhstan, Estonia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Serbia, Great Britain, France, Bulgaria, Finland, India, USA.

Admission to all film screenings of the film festival is traditionally free.
